JJ Watt, three times the NFL’s Defensive Player of the Year, announced on Monday that he will join the Arizona Cardinals. He tweeted a picture of you while lifting weights on a Cardinals shirt.
“source: me”, wrote Watt in the photo caption.
Watt would have agreed to a two-year deal worth $ 31 million, with $ 23 million guaranteed. Obviously, he received a good pay from his new team, but more people made the decision to join Cardinals, according to an ESPN report.

Watt’s former Houston Texans teammate DeAndre Hopkins was traded to Arizona last season, and Watt will meet with Cardinals defensive coordinator Vance Joseph, who trained him in Houston. Watt will join Chandler Jones on the defensive line to form one of the most dangerous pairs in all of football.
Still, the main reason why Watt joined the Cardinals is because of the high-ceilinged quarterback that Kyler Murray presents in his third season in 2021, ESPN reported.

Watt’s “first criterion” when choosing a new team was “defender quality”. Watt seems to have confidence in the general first choice.
“I was told that JJ Watt’s first criterion for choosing his team would be the quality of the defender. So this looks like an endorsement from @ K1,” tweeted ESPN’s Ed Werder.
Murray was the 2019 NFL offensive rookie of the year.

Last season, the former Oklahoma star defender completed 67.2% of his passes for 3,971 yards and 26 touchdowns with 12 interceptions. Murray added 819 yards to the ground with 11 more scores.
Watt leaves Houston as the longtime face of the franchise. Elaborated by the Texans in 2011, Watt won three NFL Defensive Player of the Year awards from 2012 to 2015. But during his time in Houston, the team won only four of the 10 playoff games and went 0-to-4 in the title games divisional.
