See the new BMW M4 reach 140 MPH in no time

The automotive media is getting their hands on the new BMW M3 and M4, and although the analysis – including ours – comes a little later, we can at least enjoy clips of the car now. From France Motorsport Magazine had his hands on an extremely yellow M4 competition and an empty race track with a long straight. What happened next is quite predictable.

The magazine took the car to 225 km / h and it didn’t really take long to get there. No surprise when the M4 Competition has 503 hp and an eight-speed quick-change automatic transmission. Motoring uses the launch control here, and the car automatically starts in second gear, apparently to limit wheel spin. The new M3 and M4 will be offered with four-wheel drive for the first time, but only a few months from now.

This is also our first good sound clip for the new M4, and while it’s nice to see that it doesn’t have a soft limiter in the Park, the sound is not much different from the M340i and M440i inside. Many cars on the European market now have gasoline particulate filters in the exhaust system, which silence engine noise. Here, it looks like BMW is digitally enhancing the engine’s note unnecessarily. Cars with United States specifications may sound very different from their European counterparts.

Regardless of how it sounds, the new M4 appears to be very fast. BMW claims 3.8 seconds at 60 mph for the M4 competition, but typically, Bavarians always publish conservative acceleration numbers. So it must be a monster, not that anyone is surprised.
