Eons ago, in 2019, the world got to know one of the most powerful pieces of clothing ever known to man: Chris Evans’s Aran cream sweater from Knives Out. The round collar was a marvel of physics, huge and compact at the same time. Their vast tattered strips of fabric could certainly cover at least three football fields, and yet they clung tightly to Evans’s biceps. The effect was so striking that in cinemas (large halls where people used to gather to watch the latest cinematic releases on a big screen), the sweater supposedly provoked gasps from the audience. Now, almost two years later, Hollywood is preparing to present another sweater, I dare say, even bigger.
Like the first big sweater, this one is also a cream colored knit. Unlike the first, this second is a high collar, and the undulating mass to which it clings is not Chris Evans, but the famous Boy Adam Driver, who used it in his role as the Italian businessman Maurizio Gucci in the next crime produced by Ridley Scott drama Gucci house. Driver stars alongside Lady Gaga, Jeremy Irons, Jared Leto and Al Pacino, all of whom are likely to wear full-size sweaters.
Images of Driver and, more significantly, of the big sweater, were published this week in Ok magazine, who had paparazzi photos of Driver and Gaga filming at a ski resort in the Italian Alps. THE Daily Mail he also published photos of Driver coming down the slopes for a scene in a blinding white ski suit, although it is unclear whether he was wearing the big sweater underneath. Lady Gaga posted your own photo hers and Driver’s (wearing the sweater) with the caption: “Signore and Signora Gucci.”
House of Gucci is scheduled to be released in November 2021. Who knows if we will be able to watch it in theaters until then, or if we will still be quarantined in our own homes when we sigh and mutter, “Mamma mia… Big sweater…”
