See the Boston Dynamics robot family dance as if 2020 was a good year

With a namesake like Atlas, you wouldn’t think the Boston Dynamics bipedal robot would be the most flexible specimen on the planet. But then we’ve already seen that he has a knack for parkouring, and now you can add dance to your talent list. In his latest viral video for sure, we see Atlas and the entire Boston Dynamics family, including the Spot dog and the stack of Handle boxes, dancing “Do You Love Me” by The Contours. And as a six-foot man, let me just say that I am jealous because something so tall can move with such mobility and grace.

This is not the first time that we have seen a Boston Dynamics robot spin its limbs in a classic melody. In 2018, the then subsidiary of SoftBank shared a local dance video to the sound of “Uptown Funk”. Watching the two clips consecutively highlights how far the company’s robots have come in two short years. The dance we saw Spot perform in 2018 was impressive, but it was not able to dance pointers like its 2020 counterpart.
