Melissa McCarthy and Octavia Spencer are two estranged best friends who have become superheroes in Force of Thunder. The film directed by Ben Falcone arrives via Netflix on April 9.
The new trailer for the superhero comedy shows Lydia (McCarthy) and Emily (Spencer), best childhood friends who had a disagreement, reuniting as adults.
Emily has developed a genetic platform that gives ordinary people extraordinary superpowers. When Lydia visits Emily’s lab, she accidentally administers herself with the only formula that provides super strength. Meanwhile, Emily’s superpower is invisibility.
The two, who call themselves “Force of Thunder”, fumble using their newly acquired superpowers to fight the villains that populate their hometown in Chicago, including a bright-eyed red-eyed Bobby Cannavale. A large Jason Bateman with crab claws also appears in the clip.
Pom Klementieff, Melissa Leo, Tyrel Jackson Williams, Sarah Baker and Melissa Ponzio also star in the film.
