See how Robert Downey Jr. could be seen as Thrawn in the Mandalorian

The latest rumors seem to indicate that ex-MCU Robert Downey Jr. is in negotiations with Lucasfilm to play a role in future seasons of The Mandalorian.

Jon Favreau’s Star Wars The show was full of references and callbacks to other stories from that galaxy far, far away in its second season. Although at first it seemed like an attempt to offer fan service moments and cheap emotions, it is increasingly clear that House of Mouse has some interesting plans for the future of the franchise both on the big screen and on its streaming platform. In fact, almost all of the iconic characters who made a comeback in Season 2 now have their own Disney + series in the works or are rumored to be on the way.

But one of the more subtle Easter Eggs came in the form of a name change, that of Admiral Thrawn in “Chapter 13: The Jedi”. It seems that not only is the sinister leader alive, but he is also an active threat. Or maybe Snips is still looking for Ezra Bridger. Whatever it is, it wouldn’t be a shock if Thrawn showed up in future seasons of The Mandalorian or even Ahsoka’s own independent series.

As for who will play it, fans have several candidates for the live-action debut of Rebels character, although according to the rumor, Robert Downey Jr. is having conversations with Jon Favreau about how to play the role. And if you have trouble representing the charismatic actor on paper, maybe this new fan art will change your mind.

Of course, it can be argued that Disney will choose a lesser-known talent, but if the most recent season of The Mandalorian is an indication, the company is not afraid to spend a lot of money on its success series, or the biggest Star Wars franchise for that matter.
