See how OnePlus aims to improve OxygenOS in 2021

Despite the challenges of 2020, OnePlus had one of its busiest years, launching a huge line of new products highlighted by OnePlus 8 and OnePlus Nord. As the company looks to the new year, it took a moment to shed some light on how it plans to improve OxygenOS in 2021.

In a forum post on Wednesday, OnePlus reflected on the past 12 months, highlighting the success of its Open Ear Forums, which allow the company to open a direct dialogue with users about OxygenOS. The post talks about some of the things that OnePlus users inspired the company to develop, such as the automatic switching of themes and an updated shelf design.

But there are more improvements on the way, which we summarize here:

Camera

  • Work in progress to optimize the inconsistency between the lens and the AWB
  • Fixed HDR portrait halo – Completed (upgrade to HDR4.0 required)
  • Adding smart capture when photographing children – Already in closed beta testing

Audio & Accessories

  • Will continue to optimize sound adjustments
  • Active noise reduction is under evaluation

Games

  • Add other instant messaging apps to the quick response game tool feature
  • Work to bring high refresh rate and tactile feedback to other favorite games in the community
  • Bring the FPS rate and other stats to Game Space while playing

Of course, this is just a small sample of what the company has planned for 2021. There will, of course, always be new features in progress that we probably don’t know about yet. OnePlus regularly solicits feedback from the community for OxygenOS, with initiatives like OEF and IDEAS, which helped launch features like Always-on Display (AOD), folders inside the app drawer and more.

Outside of OxygenOS, OnePlus reportedly has big plans for early next year. The company had already confirmed plans to finally launch a smartwatch, while the OnePlus 9 leaked on a few different occasions. In the meantime, a recent report states that the company is planning to launch its first wearable fitness that can cost just $ 40.

With new features in development for OxygenOS and several suspicious devices, there’s a lot to expect if you’re a fan of OnePlus.
