Oregon’s Sedona Prince led the search for better training equipment in the NCAA women’s tournament.
She seems to be satisfied with the results.
The sophomore center posted a video on social media on Thursday showing a single set of dumbbells for student-athletes at the San Antonio tournament facilities. The footage went viral along with images of a fully equipped gym on the Indianapolis men’s tournament facilities, calling for equal treatment for men and women.
Women get new weight room on Saturday
The NCAA apologized for the discrepancy on Friday. On Saturday, women in San Antonio woke up in a new weight room equipped with benches, free weights, racks and cardiovascular equipment.
And, of course, more dumbbells.
Prince, who has become the face of demand for better equipment amid a flurry of criticism from athletes and coaches, appears to be satisfied with the new setup.
She tweeted a new video on Saturday celebrating the update.
The prince’s reaction to the upgrade
“Guess what guys?” Prince said with a big smile on his face. “We have a weight room.”
Prince then took a tour of the weight room before thanking the NCAA.
“Thank you NCAA for listening to us,” Prince continued. “We thank you all. Thank you very much, really.”
