Seattle Seahawks’ Jamal Adams says “there is no doubt” that he will play in the playoff

SEATTLE – The biggest question facing the Seattle Seahawks this week is actually not a question for Jamal Adams: the strong Safety All-Pro on Wednesday said unequivocally that he will be on the field for Saturday’s wild card game against Los Angeles Rams.

“No doubt in my mind. I’m playing, man,” said Adams. “Look, as long as those legs are moving, man, as long as my faith is with the man up there, who is very strong, I will be outside.”

Adams said he never had any doubts that he would play, despite his left shoulder injury he suffered in the fourth period on Sunday, which left him aside at the end of Seattle’s victory over the San Francisco 49ers.

Coach Pete Carroll said after the game that the initial word was that Adams could play this weekend, although he was silent when declaring that. Carroll was more evasive in his most recent comments, saying that Adams’ availability would not be known until game day.

Adams did not practice on Tuesday and was listed as a limited participant on Wednesday.

“I’m fine,” said Adams. “I’m looking forward to it. I’m not going to be limited to anything. I’m in full swing. I’m in full energy. It’s me. I’m going to continue making plays and continue to help the team win. That’s what I’m talking about.”

Despite losing four games to a groin injury, Adams led the Seahawks this season with 9.5 sacks, an NFL record for a defensive defense. He was nominated for his third consecutive Pro Bowl.

Asked if he would have to wear a support belt on his left shoulder, Adams said he would play with “something”. He has been playing with a right shoulder injury since week 10 and has two broken fingers on his left hand.

He called it “just another challenge” to play with two injured shoulders.

“I’m a savage, bro,” said Adams. “I’m a warrior, man. It doesn’t matter. Whatever it takes. It’s not about me. It will always be bigger than me. It’s about this team. It’s about my brothers. It’s about my family at home, My why. So, again, I’m excited about this opportunity. It doesn’t matter what obstacle is thrown in my way. I’ve always figured it out and that’s all that matters, man.

Adams returned briefly on Sunday after hurting his shoulder in a blitz, but ended the game on the sideline with a downcast expression on his face. Carroll said the team had to remove Adams’ helmet.

“All the things I went through last year – and again, I don’t like to talk about myself because it’s never about me – but yes, I went through a lot of ups and downs, a lot of adversity due to injuries,” said Adams. “Obviously, he had to take my helmet off. And when he took off my helmet, it hurt me a little because I wanted to be there and finish it anyway.

“But at the end of the day, it’s about this team. It’s never going to be about me. I can’t wait to start. I’ll find out and that’s who I am as a person.”
