Seattle cops investigating cops in connection with Capitol riots

The Seattle Police Department is investigating two of its officers who were in Washington, DC, at the time the US Capitol was invaded.

Interim police chief Adrian Diaz said in a statement on Friday that officers were placed on administrative leave while the Police Accountability Department investigates whether they participated in Wednesday’s deadly riot.

The OPA will examine whether any department policies have been violated “and whether any potential illegal activity needs to be referred for criminal investigation,” said Diaz. “If any SPD officer is directly involved in the United States Capitol uprising, I will fire him immediately.”

Although the agency supports all legal expressions of First Amendment freedom of speech, he said the mob broke the law and killed a police officer.

Protesters oppressed police officers on the Capitol after a rally led by President Trump, who repeated the base.

They broke into the building when lawmakers were in the middle of a joint session of Congress to count the votes of the Electoral College that officially sealed Democratic Joe Biden’s victory.

Five people were killed, including Capitol policeman Brian Sicknick, 42, who succumbed to the injuries that triggered a stroke after a fight with a rioter.

Last summer, the Seattle police coped with their own violent clashes when supporters of the Black Lives Matter movement occupied a part of a neighborhood, calling it the Capitol Autonomous Zone (CHAZ). Three weeks later, the police later recovered the area.
