Season 9 of ‘Dexter’: Revival set in Fictional Iron Lake, New York

Oregonian lumberjack Dexter Morgan is packing up his chainsaw and driving back to the east.

TVLine confirmed that the next showtime Dexter revival will take place in Upstate New York – specifically, the fictional small town of Iron Lake. Actual production, however, will be based in Massachusetts, with filming scheduled to begin next month.

The original Dexter series, of course, happened in Miami. At the end of the polarization series, the action moved to the Oregon backcountry, where Michael C. Hall’s allegedly dead watchman started a new life as a prisoner.

As TVLine reported exclusively earlier this month, veteran actor Clancy Brown (Carnivale and Billion) will be the main antagonist of the revival Kurt Caldwell, the unofficial mayor of Iron Lake.

Our brother pub Deadline, however, reports that the renewed set of the series will also include GoliathJulia Jones (as the first Iron Lake Native American Police Chief) and Underground and Jane the Virgin alum Miller (as sergeant of the PD of the Iron Lake).

In October, Showtime announced that it had ordered an episode of 10 Dexter limited series, with the original EP Clyde Phillips back as a showrunner. The new iteration – or nearly ninth season – will reveal what Hall’s watchful alter ego has done after the widely criticized end of 2013.

Despite the reaction, showrunner Phillips said in a recent interview that the revival would not correct / recognize any specific errors perceived in the original ending. “We are not undoing anything,” he said. “We are not going to betray the public and say, ‘Oops, it was all a dream.’ What happened in the first eight years happened in the first eight years. “
