Apex LegendsThe eighth season, Mayhem, will air on February 2 and will feature the debut of the 16th Legend: Fuse of the game battle royale, developer Respawn Entertainment announced on Monday.
Respawn introduced Apex Legends players will merge with a new Stories from the Outlands short on Monday. The four-minute video tells the story of Fuse’s love affair with explosives, which goes back to a childhood episode in which he and his best friend discovered “a beautiful bloody grenade” that belonged to freedom fighters on his home planet, Salvo . Fuse and his friend go on all kinds of adventures together – to the sound of 80s hair metal music – but their relationship begins to break when the macho man with an Australian accent goes into combat in Salvo’s boxing.
Unless eventually he joins the group of planets Syndicate, much to the dismay of Fuse’s friend, who grew up reverencing the aforementioned freedom fighters. At that moment, Fuse approaches and announces that he is leaving Salvo for the Apex Games. He proposes a truce, but she is frustrated and angry – and a fight starts. At the end of the fight, Chekov’s grenade goes off, and Fuse wakes up and finds his right arm blown off.
Data miners have already discovered files that suggest that Fuse has a tactical skill called Airburst Grenade, in which he can use a launcher on his mechanical right arm to fire a grenade, and a final skill known as The Motherlode, which allows him to use a cannon on the back to launch a missile that leaves flames in its wake. There is no information yet on its passive capacity.
Season 8 will arrive two days before Apex Legends‘second birthday. In addition to introducing Fuse, Mayhem will change the appearance of the game’s initial map, Kings Canyon, for the third time. Finally, season 8 will bring a new weapon to ApexThe arsenal, a lever-action rifle called the 30-30 Repeater.
Apex Legends is available on PlayStation 4, Windows PC and Xbox One. A Nintendo Switch version is also in development, with a release scheduled for this year.
