Seahawks’ letter to season ticket holders does not mention Russell Wilson

Well, Russell Wilson will not be negotiated with the Cowboys, not with Dak Prescott making a four-year contract. But that does not mean that the situation in Seattle is under contract.

Case in point: Via NBC Sports Northwest, the Seahawks recently sent a letter to holders of the second ticket. The letter makes no mention of quarterback Russell Wilson.

He mentions the DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett receivers. He mentions new offensive coordinator Shane Waldron and new run-game coordinator Andy Dickerson. But you don’t mention Russell Wilson.

Some will dismiss the omission, but it is significant. Presumably, the Seahawks do not want to be accused of promising that Wilson will be playing in the games for which the recipients will be buying tickets. It is an acknowledgment, implicitly, of the broader situation between player and team, which can still result in an exchange.

Although the exchange does not take place with Dallas, an exchange cannot be ruled out. Is it a likely exchange? No. But the possibility is strong enough to make the Seahawks exclude Wilson from the effort to get fans back for another season.
