Seahawks fail to overcome offensive mistakes in losing wild cards to Rams

1. It was a difficult night for the Seahawks attack.

The Rams ended the regular season by allowing the fewest points, yards and more yards in the NFL, and defending the top made things difficult for the Seahawks all afternoon.

The Seahawks bet on the first three possessions, scored a field goal in the fourth, then Rams’ cornerback, Darious Williams, made one of the biggest plays of the game, sniffing a bubble screen for DK Metcalf and skipping the route for an interception he returned 42 yards for a touchdown.

The Seahawks responded to that with a touchdown of their own, the beauty of a pass in Russell Wilson’s run to Metcalf for a 51-yard touchdown, but other than that great move, the Seahawks’ attack failed to take the path very seriously until they set up a 76-yard scoring campaign at the end of the fourth period, after the Rams built a three-point lead.

When the dust settled, the Seahawks managed only 278 yards and 11 first runs, and were only 2 to 14 on the third run. Russell Wilson, meanwhile, made 11 for 27 for 174 yards, two touchdowns and pick-six, and was fired five times, giving Rams 16 sacks in three games against Seattle this year.
