Seahawks casting pass rusher Carlos Dunlap as probable victim in the cap

According to a report by ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Seattle Seahawks will cut defense veteran Carlos Dunlap today.

Seattle acquired Dunlap in the middle of last season for BJ Finney and a 7th round pick in 2021 and he was one of, if not the most productive pass rusher in the Seahawks defense for the second half of the season.

Dunlap had another year left on his contract when the Seahawks acquired him, and he was expected to charge a maximum of $ 14,037,500 with a dead limit of $ 0 if cut. So John Schneider and Seahawks’ decision makers realized that Dunlap, at his age and at the current limit, was not worth the $ 14 million tag for another season.

There have been rumors that the team is hopeful of rehiring the 32-year-old, but for a cheaper price, but it is possible that Dunlap will find a new home in a business he wants.

Now, Seattle has about $ 14 million to spend in this off-season to possibly protect Russell Wilson with an offensive attacker-free agent subscription, or spend elsewhere.

But this is probably not the news you would like to hear to start a new week.
