Sea Snake, ‘Flea Bottom’, ’10, 000 ships’ – Deadline

EXCLUSIVE: While HBO continues to plan an expansion of its War of Thrones universe, more clues emerge as to which directions the expansion could take.

We heard that HBO is developing a trio of ideas for new projects set in the fictional world of George RR Martin. They include 9 trips also known as Water snake, Flea Bottom and 10,000 ships. Of the three, the Sea Snake project seems to be more formed, with a creative team on board to develop it, including Bruno Heller, while the other two are considered ideas that are being explored without a writer yet. HBO declined to comment.

They join a potential adaptation of Martin Tales of Dunk & Egg soap operas, which is also being considered on HBO, and a possible Took animated series, which is a possibility for HBO Max.

Development of new Took projects are growing, as the cameras are set to run soon in the prequel series Dragon House.

The Series 9 Voyages refers to the great voyages at sea made by Corlys Velaryon aboard the ship Sea Snake. Velaryon traveled to places like Pentos, Dragonstone and around the bottom of Westeros, as well as to Lys, Tyrosh and Myr. He reached the legendary lands of Yi Ti and Leng, whose wealth doubled that of Casa Velaryon, and he and the Ice Wolf went north in search of passage around the top of Westeros, only to find frozen seas and icebergs the size of of mountains.

The mentalist The creator, Pomegranate co-creator and Gotham The developer Bruno Heller is involved in this project together with Martin.

There is also a project in Flea Bottom, which is the poorest neighborhood in King’s Landing, a maze of narrow streets and dark alleys full of tanneries, brothels and breweries. It is featured in the first four seasons of War of Thrones, including when Arya Stark of William takes refuge there after fleeing the Red Fortress. Characters from Flea Bottom include Ser Davos Seaworth, played by Liam Cunningham, Gendry, the bastard son of King Robert Baratheon, played by Joe Dempsie, the Armenian prostitute, played by Sahara Knite and Karl Tanner, a brother of the Night’s Watch, played by Burn Gorman.

Finally, there is a show based on 10,000 ships, a reference to the journey made by the warrior queen Princess Nymeria and the surviving members of the Rhoynars, who traveled from Essos to Dorne after their defeat by Valyrian Freehold in the Second Spice War. This migration took place about 1,000 years before the events described in the novels The Chronicles of Ice and Fire. Arya Stark, played by Maisie Williams, named her giant wolf after Nymeria.

News of the new projects came after Casey Bloys, director of content for HBO and HBO Max, told Deadline last month that they were talking about various areas to be developed.

“We are talking about other areas that also make sense. George RR Martin’s world is so big and what’s interesting about him, not only is it big, but he has a lot of storylines, ”Bloys told Deadline. “So, one of the great things about Dragon House is that it’s an established story that takes you to War of Thrones the show, and there are many small branches. There are many opportunities and stories to tell. “

“The good news with the prequels is that there is a story that George traced,” he added. “We are working with George, it would really be something we would talk to him about, but for now, the prequels fit in because of the really extensive story that George exposed in his world.”
