Scotty Miller is feeling it.
Wide receiver Tampa Bay Buccaneers made some important plays on the field in the playoffs, including Sunday’s game change, the 39-yard touchdown reception at the end of the first half of the NFC championship.
Now he’s here calling Tyreek Hill.
The sophomore sprinter joined The Dan Patrick Show on Wednesday for some pre-Super Bowl food. He is clearly not concerned with providing material for notice boards. When Patrick asked if he could beat Hill in a foot race, he didn’t hesitate in his answer.
‘I have every confidence in myself’
“Oh, I’m taking it every day of the week,” said Miller. “I will take control of anyone.
“Tyreek is an incredible talent, super fast and unbelievable. But if we are talking about a race, I have every confidence in myself to go against anyone. “
When asked if he thinks he is the fastest player in the NFL, Miller simply replied, “Yes, sir.”
So, who is the fastest player in the NFL? The fastest man competition that former Washington cornerback Darrell Green used to have is no more. Therefore, we must rely on 40-yard times.
The fastest candidates
Hill’s 40-yard professional time of 4.29 seconds in 2016 before joining the NFL puts him at the top of the league. Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver Marquise Goodwin – who opted out of the 2020 season due to concerns about COVID-19 – posted a 4.27 on his 2013 professional day and recovered his bet by defeating 15 NFL players in competition 40 Yards of Gold 2019. Hill did not participate in the competition because he was in the middle of an abandoned child abuse investigation.
John Ross of Cincinnati (record 4.22 in the 2017 scout combination), Henry Ruggs of Las Vegas and Hill’s teammate Mecole Hardman would probably also have something to say in this conversation.
As for Miller? He ran a 4.39-yard race of 4.39 on his 2019 professional day. That’s fast, but not exactly among the elite of the NFL speedters themselves. Hill doesn’t seem to see him as a threat.
