Scientist says human penises are shrinking due to pollution

Environmental scientist Dr. Shanna Swan warned in her new book entitled Countdown that human penises are shrinking and also becoming malformed because of pollution.

The cause of the shrinkage, which Swan believes is an existential crisis that humanity is facing as a result of declining fertility rates, is due to the presence of phthalates commonly found in manufactured plastics.

Phthalate esters affect the human genitals, altering the hormone-producing endocrine system and, as a consequence, have caused more baby boys to be born with small penises.

Swan based his research on the study of phthalate syndrome in rats, in which exposure of fetuses to the chemical increased the likelihood that the rat would be born with shrunken genitals.

In humans, Swan found that male babies exposed to the chemical in the womb were more likely to have a shorter anogenital distance, which is correlated with expected penile volume.
The origin of the chemical comes from the baby’s toys and foods, and it acts by imitating the hormone estrogen and disrupting the natural production of hormones in humans, subsequently affecting sexual development in children and behavior in adults.

In an earlier academic study published by Swan in 2017, sperm levels were found to have dropped by more than half in the past 40 years, based on an examination of 185 studies.

Swan believes that most men will be unable to produce viable sperm in 2045.
