Schumer begs JetBlue not to send jobs from New York to Florida

Senator Chuck Schumer personally pleaded with the JetBlue boss not to shrink the low-cost airline’s Big Apple workforce while evaluating shipping jobs to Florida, the Post found.

The senior senator from New York said he defended his position in a phone call with JetBlue Chief Executive Robin Hayes on Wednesday night – the day after the Post reported exclusively that the carrier was considering transferring some jobs from its Long Island City headquarters for existing offices in the State of the Sun.

“With the critical pandemic relief dollars that we just delivered to help save airlines like JetBlue and the thousands and thousands of New Yorkers they already employ, the airline should really pave the way to grow here, not back down,” said the Democratic Senate majority leader told The Post in a statement on Thursday.

“In short, I am confident that JetBlue will continue to be the airline of the hometown of New York for a long time,” said the senior senator for New York. (iStock)
