SC Zoo will name a cockroach for his ex on Valentine’s Day

GREENVILLE, SC (WCSC) – If a bad break left you unintentionally celebrating Valentine’s Day this year, Greenville Zoo is offering a gift that can serve as a little revenge.

The zoo is allowing people to name a hissing cockroach from Madagascar after someone they would rather forget.

For $ 15, the zoo will name one of the cockroaches in place of an ex-girlfriend and announce it on Facebook on Valentine’s Day. It will also provide a certificate to commemorate the “gift”.

The education coordinator at the Greenville Zoo, Jennifer Garcia, says she is part of the zoo’s inaugural “It’s a Bug Life” initiative.

“You have the opportunity to name one of our loved ones cockroaches for a worthy or not-so-worthy Valentine’s Day that you have in mind,” said Garcia. “Profits are a great way to support the zoo and help us raise funds for our programs, our animals, their exhibits and just our daily operation.”

People have until 5pm on Friday to buy the Valentine’s Day package.
