SC State Parks to Offer Free Entry on November 27

BY SC PARKS, RECREATION AND TOURISM DEPARTMENT

COLOMBIA – Entry to South Carolina’s state parks will be free on Friday, November 27, when the Park Service joins the #OptOutside national initiative. The promotion, sponsored by REI, encourages people to spend some time outdoors the day after Thanksgiving.

“State parks are some of the most beautiful outdoor scenery in South Carolina and are ideal places for family outings,” said Paul McCormack, director of the State Park Service. “We opened the gates to nearly 35,000 hectares of natural beauty and cultural wonders, from the deep Blue Ridge forests to the state’s settlement site at Charles Towne Landing.”

Typically, admission varies from $ 3 to $ 8 per person in most state parks. The Park Service will notify the public of the free entry on November 27 on social media, using the hashtags #OptOutside and #OptOutsideSC.
