SC state parks to continue the tradition of hiking on New Year’s Day

CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) – Those looking for something healthy to do in the morning or afternoon on New Year’s Day are being encouraged to participate in South Carolina state park “first day hikes”.

State Park officials say the New Year’s Day tradition is a good way to start the new year actively.

Although some parks only allow groups of 10 people or less, state park officials say they expect people to stop for a pleasant walk through the park on some of its easy trails. These trails range from half a mile to three miles.

State park officials say that some parks may require facial coverage.

The South Carolina Parks Department says people can find more information about a trail near them by visiting its website’s programs and events page.
