SC reaches new daily high of confirmed cases

The South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control (DHEC) today announced 1,741 new confirmed cases of coronavirus and 17 confirmed deaths. Charleston had the most new cases compared to other counties on Tuesday, with 375 confirmed.

There are currently 1,021 hospital beds occupied by patients with a positive result or under investigation for COVID-19.

This brings the total number of confirmed cases to 36,297, probable cases to 102, confirmed deaths to 735 and 4 probable deaths.

DHEC asks South Carolinians to stay safe this 4th of July

With July 4th this weekend, DHEC recommends that Southern Carolinians make “safe and responsible plans to celebrate that include precautions to protect themselves against the spread of COVID-19.”

Many of the positive cases of coronavirus in South Carolina came from people who became involved with large groups, did not maintain social distance or wore masks, a statement said.

DHEC says the number of new positive cases in one day is “the highest ever, as well as the number of people currently hospitalized due to complications from COVID-19, which currently exceeds 1,000.” The lack of social distance and the use of masks is contributing to the growing numbers of the state, the statement added.

The agency also reports that young people are increasingly testing positive for the virus, as South Carolina saw a 966% increase in new cases reported between the ages of 11 and 20 and a 413% increase in those between 21 -30.

DHEC recommends that families celebrate the 4th of July by planning festivities at home and watching fireworks shows while staying in their vehicles or virtually tuning in to celebrations.

Greenville Triumph starts training

The Greenville Triumph football team is set to begin full team training for the first time since early March, when the United Soccer League announced the end of its training moratorium, a statement said.

“We are excited to put the whole team back on the pitch,” said coach John Harkes in a statement. “As we progress to full training, we will continue to be diligent and secure in our approach. Small group training has been positive for our development and mindset. We are staying focused on the roadmap established by the league and state guidelines and we are looking forward to for continuing to progress as a squad. “

Triumph cooperated with the league and local health officials to ensure that appropriate security measures are in place. The team has already done regular tests on the COVID-19.

The club has not yet decided whether it will be safe to allow fans to watch the games, a statement said. The season is scheduled to start on July 18th.

Greenville restaurants show how, when to close after an employee tests positive for COVID-19

June 23 should be the Kitchen Sync reopening day. The Greenville restaurant, known for its locally sourced food, as well as its focus on community and environmental management, was set to open its doors after closing on April 6 due to the coronavirus pandemic.

But with coronavirus cases increasing at a rapid pace and uncertainty about how to deal with potential cases if one occurred in their restaurant, the owners decided to wait a little longer.
