SOUTH CAROLINA – With regard to the rate of transmission and vaccination of the South Carolinians against the coronavirus, the state of Palmetto is at the bottom of the list, according to a new study by WalletHub.
The study compared the 50 states and the District of Columbia on five main indicators. The data set included COVID-19 transmission rates, positive tests, hospitalizations and death, as well as the portion of the eligible population that was vaccinated.
In the end, South Carolina took fifth place as the “least safe state” during the coronavirus pandemic.
The state also ranked close to the last place – 47th in the country – in terms of vaccinating residents against COVID-19. See how South Carolina ranked on other important metrics:
- 50º – Positive test rate
- 45º – Hospitalization fee
- 39º – Mortality rate
- 24º – Transmission rate
Whether in South Carolina or elsewhere, a state’s security level is important to its economy, according to Jill Gonzalez, an analyst at WalletHub.
“This determines how companies can operate. States will not remove their current COVID-19 restrictions until certain security benchmarks are met, such as reducing the baud rate to specific levels. Until it is safe to remove these restrictions, business will remain stunted in the United States, ”she said.
Only four other states scored worse than South Carolina. They were Nevada (No. 4), Mississippi (No. 3), Alabama (No. 2) and Arizona (No. 1).
According to the study, the top 10 safest states during the coronavirus pandemic are:
- Alaska
- Vermont
- Colorado
- Montana
- North Dakota
- Hawaii
- Iowa
- Utah
- Minnesota
- Missouri
