SC 4-year-old saved to buy a toy on Amazon, so a porch pirate stole it

NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) – A father says his 4-year-old son saved $ 20 to buy a toy from Amazon.

Hank Henry says that when his son’s package arrived at their home, it was stolen while they were out of town. It was a marble race track. Henry says his son earned money by doing housework and helping around the house.

An incident report from the North Charleston Police Department says the robbery happened two weeks ago and the suspect was wearing cowboy boots.

“It was just a $ 20 toy. It’s something we could reorder, but I felt really intrusive when someone came into my garage and took a package off my porch,” said Henry.

The family’s security camera shows footage of a man picking up a package from his home and then walking away.

Henry says he shared what happened on social media with his neighbors and they wanted to help.

“I posted on Nextdoor, which was as far away as I wanted, and I had a lot of people who really supported me,” said Henry. “I had some neighbors who offered to replace him and wanted to know what it was. One guy said that if everyone contributed 50 cents so we could buy a new one, obviously I didn’t accept that, but it was really cool to have that support. “

Henry says that a package has never been stolen from his home before. Your neighbors checked your security footage as well.

“I know it was just a $ 20 toy, but it’s just the principle of someone taking something that doesn’t belong to them.”

Henry replaced the toy and his son has been enjoying it ever since.
