You may remember in September, we held our first Nintendo Life Indie Spotlight, announcing new games coming to the Switch. Among this training was Cathedral, a promising retro-style 2D Metroidvania from Decemberborn Interactive, reminiscent of Knight shovel. Having been released for PC in 2019, it will now arrive on the Switch next week, on February 18th.
In the Cathedral, we will be playing a heroic amnesic knight, waking up in a different world, with no memories of how they ended up here. Exploring a non-linear fortress, you have been tasked with finding five legendary elemental orbs, placed under the protection of five guardians by a powerful demigod.
Speaking about the imminent release of the Switch, Eric Lavesson of Decemberborn Interactive confirmed:
We’re only a week away from launch and we can’t wait to see what Nintendo players think of this epic and extensive metroidvania love letter. We share a new feed gameplay straight from the Switch version to give everyone a taste of what to expect from the final experience. I hope you all enjoy Cathedral as much as our PC community!
With over 600 rooms to explore on its huge interconnected world map, Cathedral features an 8-bit audiovisual feast that was created with contemporary metroidvania game design principles. From the cathedral The expansive map is completely handmade with meticulous pixel art details, filled to the brim with all kinds of locations, secrets, puzzles, items and special challenges.
Using the handy map feature is mandatory for players who want to discover all the mysteries that this game contains. Get ready for a fun and noble adventure that will challenge and entertain for hours!
