Save on 4K HDR TVs before Super Bowl 2021

In news that is likely to be devastating for people looking for all the reasons to update their TV, CBS announced that the Super Bowl LV will not be broadcast in 4K HDR. The decision was made due to complications caused by the pandemic. This is probably not going very well for all TV makers that use the Super Bowl as the time to release 2020 models at a huge discount. But there are other reasons to take advantage of these deals while they are out there.

There’s more 4K content than ever with HBO Max’s Wonder Woman 1984 being one of the great new releases to support 4K HDR. One of the TVs mentioned below has HDMI 2.1 ports, which allows the display of certain PS5 and Xbox Series X games with 4K resolution with up to 120 frames per second.

If you don’t like TVs, though, we’ve included some other offers for you.

The Vizio 65-inch P-series Quantum X (pictured above) has a discount of about $ 330 off its regular price now at some retailers. This model is close to the top of the company’s TV offerings, and its specifications also place it close to the top of what you can get on a 4K QLED TV now. It has 384 local dimming zones for high contrast and, for gamers, its HDMI 2.1 support will allow you to get the most out of your Xbox Series X, PS5 or PC built with a recent Nvidia RTX graphics card.

The V Quantio P Quantum X series is a state-of-the-art QLED TV that will show your sports, games and movies in spectacular ways. It is loaded with 384 local dimming zones for better contrast, and its HDMI 2.1 ports make it a solid choice for 4K120Hz games.

Hisense is also discounting some of its big screen 4K HDR TVs. The 75-inch H8G model with integrated Android TV software for easy streaming of movies and TV shows costs $ 1,300 at Walmart. Like the Quantum X series P above, it has a quantum dot LED screen, which can offer better contrast and more accurate lighting than the average LED screen.

If you value the size above basic specifications, Best Buy is selling the 85-inch Hisense H65 for $ 1,400 (usually $ 1,700). It is bigger than any of the TVs mentioned above and, likewise, it has Android TV built in, in case you want to watch Netflix right after taking it out of the box. But it probably won’t stand out if you are particular about image quality, especially when it comes to contrast and accurate background lighting.

HBO Max’s 20 percent discount has been extended

Remember when I told you last week that the deal that gives you a 20% discount on a six-month subscription to HBO Max was coming to an end? Well, WarnerMedia extended until March 1st. Thus, you will have even more time to take advantage of this offer. The fine print: it is open to new and returning users and, instead of paying $ 90 for six months of service, it costs about $ 70. However, you need to pay in full and upfront to get this offer.

Samsung’s next family of Galaxy S series phones will launch on January 29. You have until January 28th to pre-order and you will receive some advantages of the pre-order. My colleague Taylor Lyles has all the details about the cost of various retailers and operators in this post, but no matter where you get an S21, S21 Plus or S21 Ultra, you will receive up to $ 200 in Samsung credit, in addition to a free Galaxy SmartTag.

While I have you, Dieter Bohn shared his thoughts on the Galaxy S21 Ultra, a phone that does well where last year’s model promised and insufficiently delivered. It is worth reading more about the photo quality and its beautiful screen with a high refresh rate.
