Saudi Crown Prince receives his first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine

Saudi prince Mohammed bin Salman received his first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine on Friday, state media reported.

Crown Prince Mohammed, the de facto ruler of the kingdom, received the vaccine according to the national vaccination plan COVID-19 of the Saudi Ministry of Health, according to the Saudi Press Agency.

Saudi Arabia, which received shipments of the COVID-19 vaccine developed by Pzifer and BioNTech earlier this month, began its vaccination campaign on December 17. The country’s Minister of Health, Tawfiq al-Rabiah, was one of the first Saudis to receive the vaccine that day.

Al-Rabiah thanked the Crown Prince on Friday “for his efforts and continued monitoring to provide vaccines to citizens and residents,” according to the Saudi Press Agency.

Saudi Arabia has reported 361,903 cases of the coronavirus, including 178 detected in the past 24 hours, the Ministry of Health said on Friday. The total includes 6,168 deaths, including nine new deaths on the last day.
