Satisfactory’s big update 4 is available now, adds hoverpacks, drones and more

The major new update to the Satisfactory factory building game is available to play now. It adds a ton of important new features, including hoverpacks, drones, lighting and a particle accelerator, along with dozens of minor tweaks and quality of life updates.

The game’s community managers make the main changes in this video:

There are also a lot of teaser trailers on the game’s YouTube channel, but none of them can compare to update trailer 3, which is the only video game patch trailer that gives me the creeps.

Update 4 adds a lot of features to summarize perfectly, even if I focus only on the most striking ones. Let’s try, anyway. Hoverpacks are designed to make it easier to move around the base and survey your scattered creations; drones help move small amounts of resources quickly; the lighting illuminates the internal and external areas and can be customized if you want to bathe everything in purple; and particle accelerators are part of a rework of level 7 and 8 technology updates and the nuclear tools you can use.

You can find the full patch notes on Reddit, which includes all changes to the user interface and quality of life adjustments as well. People seem very enthusiastic about the ability to copy and paste the building’s settings. I didn’t play Satisfactory, but I’ve played enough to know how small additions like this can make a big difference.

Satisfactory update 4 will be officially released on April 13, but is available to play now on the Epic Games Store and on Steam through the experimental branch of the game.
