Satellite images give another perspective on the development of the situation in Egypt’s Suez Canal, where a mega container ship was turned on its side and stuck, blocking the busy passage.
Images captured on Tuesday by a Dove satellite from Planet Labs showed the stranded spacecraft, called Ever Given, on the channel.
Ever Given is about 1,300 feet long (or nearly a quarter mile) and 193 feet wide. The ship weighs around 220,000 tons and is capable of transporting up to 20,000 containers.
