Following Partick Dempsey, who has been repeated this season, and TR Knight, who appeared in an episode last fall, Sarah Drew will also return to Gray Sloan this season, Deadline may reveal.

She will repeat her fan favorite character, Dr. April Kepner, in an upcoming episode.

And more Gray alumni may be returning, appearing in the sequences of the dream beach. How Grey’s Anatomy showrunner Krista Vernoff teased this week, “chances are good that you will see other people on the beach”.

Drew left Gray at the end of the 14th season in 2018, after nine seasons, eight of them as regular. She started as a recurrent in season 6 before being promoted to regular in the following season.

Dr. April Kepner of Drew was a trauma surgeon at Gray Sloan Memorial Hospital who joined Mercy West Medical Center after the merger. She shares a daughter with her ex, Dr. Jackson Avery (Jesse Williams). The last time we saw her joining Matthew (Justin Bruening) and quitting her job, although many Gray the fans – and Drew herself – were waiting for her to finish Jackson. April’s return may help to close the ex-couple’s story.

More recently, Drew has turned to Freeform’s Cruel summer. On the resource side, Drew recently starred in the Sony film Mom’s night ort. She is represented by Innovative Artists, Vault Entertainment and Morris Yorn.
