São José announces fewer doses of vaccine allocated next week

BRYAN, Texas (KBTX) – St. Joseph Heath, the organization providing the vaccines center at the Brazos Center, announced on Friday that it will receive only 2,000 first doses and 1,000 second doses in the week of February 8.

In the first week of operation, staff at the center vaccinated more than 4,500 people with the hope of giving 5,000 vaccines a week in the coming weeks.

Some people who signed up on the St. Joseph website to get their photos next week are being notified by email that their appointments are being rescheduled for the week of February 15. Anyone who had an appointment for Tuesday afternoon, February 9th, Wednesday should receive an email, 10th or Thursday, February 11th, stating that they are moving in for the following week.

St. Joseph also said in a press release that anyone scheduled for their second dose of vaccine at St. Joseph Health MatureWell, Bryan Hospital or College Station Hospital should look for an email rescheduling their appointment. St. Joseph emphasizes that people should not panic about losing the window for a second photo, saying that many people will still be inside the window, as described by the CDC.

Any volunteers scheduled for shifts during the next week should also receive notification of these changes.

St. Joseph acknowledges that this is disappointing news to hear and they hope to receive the same amount this week, but they have to rely on the state for allocation.
