The saints remain well above the 2021 salary cap, but are reducing it.

Today they signed deals with linebacker Demario Davis and the defensive side Cameron Jordan to restructure their contracts, according to several reports.

Jordan was scheduled to have a cap of $ 18.9 million, the highest on the team. Davis was scheduled to have a cap of $ 10.8 million. Both changes are scheduled to reduce the Saints’ limit by more than $ 13 million by 2021.

Restructuring contracts to create short-term capitalization space and, at the same time, injecting more money in the future is something that the saints have done a lot in recent years. This year, they have a greater challenge than usual, because the salary cap will decrease thanks to the decline in NFL revenue from the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Saints still have a lot of work to do to get under the cap before the start of the league year on March 17.
