Santos facing COVID-19 discipline

The Saints are facing punishment from the league office for violating the security policies of COVID-19, according to Tom Pelissero and Ian Rapoport of NFL.com. This marks the third violation for Sean Payton & Co., then the punishment is likely to be even greater.

Between the previous two penalties, the Saints have already lost $ 750,000 plus the loss of a choice in the seventh round. First, there was a lack of wearing a mask in week 2. Then, the saints were seen celebrating without facial coverage again in week 9. The last flag comes from an incident at the end of the season in which the running back Alvin Kamara contacted a positive COVID-19 person at the team premises. This person was not hired by the Saints, although outside team members were prevented from entering this season.

When Kamara contracted the coronavirus, the timing could not have been worse. In Week 16 against the Vikings, he recorded six touchdowns on the ground, equaling the 91-year record. Forced to leave the end of the season, Kamara still ended the year with 21 TDs, an NFL record. Meanwhile, several other RB saints were forced to leave week 17, paying more attention to the saints and their protocols.

The Saints project will have four, or possibly five, selections in the 2021 draft. Currently, they have only their choices in the first, second and fourth rounds. However, they are scheduled to receive a pair of third round compensatory choices for hiring Terry Fontenot and losing Teddy Bridgewater. In the coming days, the saints may end up losing more with their stock.
