Santa Claus, Julio Jones appears in Falcons injury report

Santa Claus was listed on the Atlanta Falcons’ injury report on Friday.

The Falcons, who will face defending Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs, listed Santa Claus in his “rest” injury report as the reason for missing training.

Atlanta will also lose wide receiver star Julio Jones, who was already ruled out after failing to register a training session last week. According to AtlantaFalcons.com, the team did not train at Christmas.

Other players in the estimated injury report for Friday include Darqueze Dennard, Alex Mack and James Carpenter, who will all be inactive for Sunday’s game. Brandon Powell, Ricardo Allen and Marlon Davidson are listed as questionable.

Running back Todd Gurley was on the injury report as a “DNP” on Friday. During the past four weeks, Gurley carried the ball 23 times in 60 running yards without touchdowns.

The Falcons will count on wide receivers Calvin Ridley and Russel Gage, tight end Hayden Hurst and running backs Ito Smith and Brian Hill to assist quarterback Matt Ryan in the attack. Falcons will need to play against the Chiefs, especially in attack, if they are to have a chance of victory.

It will be interesting to see if Santa’s injury designation changes before the game.
