Santa Barbara County reports 779 new cases of COVID-19 on Sunday

The Santa Bárbara County Department of Public Health reported 779 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 on Sunday, bringing the county’s total cases to 21,323.

According to data from the health department, there are already 2,129 active or infectious cases of COVID-19 in the municipality.

Santa Barbara County reported an average of 445 new cases of the virus a day last week, according to county health officials. There are no new COVID-19-related deaths in the county.

The Santa Barbara County community data panel shows that the Southern California test positivity rate is 11.1%. For the Southern California region to return to the red level of the current purple level, the region’s positive test rate must be 8 percent or less, according to state health officials.

The county’s data panel also shows that for every 100,000 people in the Southern California region, approximately 38.3 cases of COVID-19 are confirmed. To move to the less restrictive red level, the region must have an adjusted case rate of seven or less per 100,000 people.

Public health officials said 981 health workers in Santa Barbara County tested positive for COVID-19.
