Sandra Scully, wife of Dodgers Hall of Fame announcer Vin Scully, dies at 76

LOS ANGELES (KABC) – Sandra Scully, wife of the Dodgers’ Hall of Fame announcer Vin Scully, died at the age of 76, the team announced.

Sandra Scully died on Sunday night at the Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center in Los Angeles after fighting ALS in recent years, according to the Dodgers.

“We are sad to hear of the passing of Sandi Scully, Vin’s loving wife and a dear member of the Dodger family,” said Dodgers President and CEO Stan Kasten. “Sandi was Vin’s biggest fan and was always there to support him lovingly at Dodger Stadium until she started her battle with ALS. She was truly the rock of Vin and the Scully family, and she will be sorely missed.”

Sandra Scully often accompanied her husband when he was broadcasting games at Dodger Stadium. Scully’s 67-year run with the Dodgers ended with her retirement in 2016. She was in the booth for her last home game on September 27. He waved to the crowd while his wife stood up and smiled beside him. Scully turned 93 in November.

Sandra Scully had 21 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Sandra Scully was born on December 27, 1944 in Cascade, Virginia. She has been married to Vin since November 1973.

The Dodgers say donations can be made to the UCLA / ALS Research Department of Neuromuscular Diseases on behalf of Sandra Scully.
