San Francisco 49ers and Santa Clara County Health System Partner to Create California’s Largest Vaccination Site

The San Francisco 49ers and Santa Clara County announced the creation of the largest vaccination post in California at Levi’s Stadium to facilitate the rapid launch of COVID-19 vaccines for residents of Santa Clara County. The site will open early next week with the initial capacity to vaccinate 5,000 people a day, with plans to increase the capacity to up to 15,000 people a day as the vaccine supply increases.

“We recognize the urgent need for an effective and equitable vaccination effort for our community and are proud to partner with Santa Clara County to bring this vaccination site online as quickly and efficiently as possible,” said 49ers president, Al Guido. “We put all the resources at our disposal to meet this challenge to ensure that members of the community in which we live every day can be vaccinated safely and quickly.”

The site will be managed and operated by the Santa Clara Municipal Health System.

“We thank the 49ers for coming during this difficult time and for providing valuable space and resources in the fight against COVID-19,” said Mike Wasserman, Chairman of the Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors. “Sport brings communities together and 49ers helping to vaccinate our community show real leadership and winning teamwork.”

All parties are working tirelessly to ensure that the vaccination site can open next week. The Levi’s Stadium team, working closely with county health system leaders, local contractors and healthcare professionals, is uniquely qualified to carry out the main logistics operation in the safest and most efficient way possible.

“The only way to overcome this pandemic is together, which is why I am pleased to see this collaborative approach to vaccinating our residents on a large scale,” said Santa Clara County Supervisor Susan Ellenberg. “Our county has a history of leadership and opening the largest vaccination site in California in partnership with 49ers is just another example of this.”

“49ers are always willing to help our community in good times and difficult times,” said county supervisor Cindy Chavez. “They fully understand the needs of Santa Clara County and the importance of efficient, rapid and equitable distribution of the vaccine to our residents. They know how to make it work at Levi’s Stadium. ” The 49ers have been a bright spot for many of our residents during the pandemic and we applaud them for this partnership. “

Also joining this partnership is Levi’s®, a longtime 49ers partner and active member of the community in the Bay Area. They are helping to raise awareness about vaccines and supporting logistical costs to ensure that the site can go online as soon as possible.

“We are proud to see Levi’s Stadium become a vaccination site for the Bay Area community,” said Jen Sey, president of global brand at Levi Strauss & Co. “We commend 49ers and Santa Clara County for coming together to address urgent needs to expand the distribution of vaccines to as many local citizens as possible. “
