Due to the slowdown in consultations at the COVID-19 vaccination sites, San Diego County health officials have expanded eligibility for residents aged 75 and over.

Vaccination was previously limited to healthcare professionals with an appropriate identification badge.

“We are taking this step today to add individuals who are 75 years of age or older, because they are at the greatest risk,” said Dr. Wilma Wooten, county public health officer. “It remains our intention to expand vaccines to people aged 65 and over in the week of January 25, depending on the availability of the vaccine.”

The new eligibility applies to the Petco Park Super Vaccination Station and other locations that administer the doses received by the county. More information at coronavirus-sd.com/vaccine and bookings can be made online at vaccinationsuperstationsd.com

The county advised those seeking the vaccine to make an appointment first, wear a mask and bring an identification document.
