San Bernardino County opens coronavirus vaccine for the elderly – San Bernardino Sun

Elderly people in San Bernardino County can now get COVID-19 injections.

The San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors announced on Thursday afternoon, January 14, that all county residents age 65 and older are now eligible to receive the coronavirus vaccine.

However, vaccine supplies are in short supply and appointments are limited, a press release said.

County residents at least 65 years old can make an appointment online by visiting: https://sbcovid19.com/vaccine/.

Seniors can also sign up for email and text notifications to receive alerts about vaccination opportunities and related news, the statement said, via the link “65+ Vaccine Notification Sign Up” at https://sbcovid19.com/vaccine /.

“We know that our elderly are the most vulnerable to serious illness and death if they contract COVID-19 and we want to vaccinate them as soon as possible,” said board chairman Curt Hagman in a statement. “We ask the community for patience as we continue to receive doses from the state of California.”

Still to come, county officials said, there will be new options for getting a chance. They include mobile vaccination units to help those who have difficulty traveling, those who live in remote areas. In addition, vaccination sites similar to county test sites are planned, possibly combined with clinics and health care providers. A “super-site” for vaccination will be announced shortly.

Those who need help scheduling appointments or receiving notifications can call the COVID-19 hotline, 909-387-3911, from 9 am to 5 pm, Monday to Friday, the statement said.
