In the third week of distribution of the COVID-19 vaccine, 23,975 doses of Moderna and Pfizer vaccine will be sent to hospitals in the municipality of Bexar, according to the state health department.
Bexar County hospitals set to receive remittances include University Health System, Christus Children’s Hospital of San Antonio and Christus Santa Rosa Medical Center, Methodist hospitals and the UT Health San Antonio clinic, Wellness 360. Vaccines will be reserved for priority populations.
Other nearby counties that have received doses of vaccine include Dimmit, Gonzales, Kerr, Medina and Wilson.
Health officials said vaccine allocations are likely to increase as supply expands as manufacturing increases and more vaccines are approved by the FDA.
Due to the currently limited supply of the vaccine, the vaccine is being administered only to frontline health workers, long-term workers and residents, people over 65 years of age and people who are at least 16 years old with at least one doctor underlying illness.
State health officials believe the vaccine will be offered to the general public beginning in the spring of 2021.

The Texas Department of Health and Human Services is monitoring where the vaccine was distributed and how many people have been vaccinated so far through its online panel. Hundreds of similar facilities across the state are receiving remittances, he shows.
Vaccine delivery and administration data is aggregated for each county by state and the dashboard is updated daily, although delays are possible depending on when the data is reported.
To date, vaccines have only been distributed in a few hospitals in the state, giving priority to frontline health professionals who are regularly exposed to the virus.
