Samsung’s next Exynos chip will have an AMD GPU

Earlier today, Samsung detailed its Exynos 2100 mobile chipset. It is the next-generation silicon that will almost certainly drive the company’s future Galaxy S21 flagship in international markets. One of the highlights of the chip is the Mali-G78 designed by ARM, which, according to Samsung, will offer graphics performance 40% better than its predecessor on the Exynos 990. At the same event, Samsung also provided an update on the GPU that is working with AMD activated since 2019.

Samsung said that this component will make its way to its next “flagship product”. This is not the Exynos 2100 or Galaxy S21, which the company is expected to announce on Thursday at its first Unpacked event in 2021. Based on the words used by Samsung’s Dr. Inyup Kang, the GPU is likely to make its first appearance on the chip that succeeds the Exynos 2100. When we will see this announced chipset, Samsung did not say. Ice universe with frequent leakage suggested we could see the new silicon at the end of this year on the Galaxy Z Fold 3. If we were to make a safer bet, a debut in early 2022 with the successor to the Galaxy S21 seems more likely.
