Samsung now pretends it never made fun of Apple for selling new iPhones without a charger

Samsung, which was quick to taking a look at Apple to remove chargers from the iPhone case, is now planning to do the same. Starting with the Galaxy S21, the South Korean giant is also expected to sell its main phones without power adapters. In preparation for this, the company is removing social media posts that mocked Apple for selling smartphones for free.

The Verge reports that the Facebook post in which Samsung boasted that its phones still come with ‘the most basic’ accessories has not been found now. Samsung had already ridiculed Apple for eliminating the 3.5 mm headphone jack, only to do the same later. And, as you may have guessed, the company also removed all ads that mocked Apple for removing the audio port.

The difference between now and then is that Samsung held the audio connector for three years after Apple abandoned it. The company also had a somewhat credible excuse at the time: the Note 10’s slightly larger battery and improved tactile feedback left no room for the 3.5mm socket.

This time, it is expected to use the same reasoning as Apple: chargers add junk and are bad for the environment.

It may be that the design and manufacturing team had planned to copy Apple all the time and the marketing department just wasn’t on the inside. Anyway, now we know who will have the last laugh.

It also looks like Huawei is planning to do the same in the future, and other manufacturers are likely to follow suit.
If consolation, Samsung is planning to launch a 30W charger that will cost less than the 25W brick. The new phones will apparently ship with a USB-C to USB-C cable, which means that last year’s charger will work with the Galaxy S21.
