On paper, the Samsung Exynos 2100 has a better CPU than Snapdragon 888. It has an Arm Cortex X1 core with clock speeds up to 2.9 GHz, three Cortex-A78 cores and four Cortex-A55 cores. The Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 has a similar architecture, but slower clock speeds.
The Snapdragon 888 features the Adreno 660 GPU, which the chip maker claims is 35% faster and 20% more energy efficient than its predecessor. The Exynos 2100 has the Arm Mali G78 GPU, and while it obviously an improvement over the Exynos 990’s Mali G77, it’s still not good enough to tackle the Adreno 660 GPU. That could change with the Exynos 2100 and Successors to Exynos 1080.
AMD is helping Samsung make mobile GPUs and, during the Exynos 2100 launch event, chaebol’s System LSI Business president confirmed that the “next flagship product” would feature an AMD GPU. It was unclear whether he was referring to the next main chip or the next premium phone and he also did not reveal the release date. Now it looks like we have all the answers, thanks to a new tweet.
We will see Samsung launch Samsung × AMD GPUs in the second or third quarter of 2021, which will be used in the next Exynos 2xxx and Exynos 1xxx processors. Samsung can change the launch time for new processors.

The custom GPU was expected to make a debut in 2022. Now it appears that the two companies are working ahead of schedule, as the Ice Universe leaker claims that Samsung will launch AMD GPUs this year. The plan is apparently to make an announcement in the second or third quarter.
Although the tweet is limited in specific details, it seems to suggest that we will see the next Exynos 2xxx and Exynos 1xxx chips ahead of expectations and this makes us wonder if Samsung’s next flagship smartphone, which is presumably the Galaxy Z Fold 3 not the Galaxy Note 21, will have a new premium SoC under the hood.
Samsung’s next flagship silicon is known internally as the Exynos 9925 and moreover, nothing more is known about it.
As for AMD GPUs, expectations are quite high, as the leaked benchmark results suggest that surpass Adreno GPUs.
