Samsung is bringing features from the Galaxy Watch 3 to the original Galaxy Watch and Watch Active

The Samsung Galaxy Watch 3 is the latest smartwatch from Samsung that comes with interesting features like ECG and blood pressure monitoring. Although Watch 3 is one of the best smartwatch options for Android users, predecessors still have plenty of life. Samsung is now making predecessors remain useful for longer, as the latest update brings features from the new watch to older models.

The original Galaxy Watch and Galaxy Watch Active are receiving new updates from Samsung (via TizenHelp) This update comes with about 292 MB and has nice additions. On the one hand, there is a more intelligent notification system that allows you to see images in messages received. The feature was introduced in Watch Active 2 and is also present in Watch 3. And now, even the original watches now support images in notifications and messages.

Other additions with the update include AR Emoji and Bitmoji to be used in conversations, voice guidance for exercises when recording automatic sections of running and cycling exercises, scrolling capture to take longer screenshots on the watch and the ability to listen to voice guidance via Bluetooth headphones. To top it off, Samsung is also promising performance and stability fixes combined with these features.

The update for Galaxy Watch comes with firmware version R810XXU1FUB6, and that for the Galaxy Watch Active comes with firmware version R500XXUF1UB5. Both updates are being released to users in the U.S. and South Korea. You can expect the update to reach other regions soon.

The original Samsung Galaxy Watch was released in August 2018 and the Active version was released in March 2019. With Samsung remaining committed to updates for these connected devices, it is a guarantee to customers that the hardware they buy can work from best way possible over the years. Most users change their watch less often than they change their smartphone, so seeing new updates by applying a new coat of paint is invigorating.
