We know a lot about what we are getting from Galaxy S21, which will probably make its debut later this month. But lately, it seems like we’re hearing more about what not coming with Samsung’s next flagship.
Last week, reports seemed to confirm the rumor that the Galaxy S21 will be shipped without charger in some parts of the world, following the example set by Apple with the launch of the iPhone 12. Now it looks like the Galaxy S21 will have something more in common with Apple phones – there is apparently no microSD slot to expand storage on the next phone from Samsung.
That rumor comes from the Roland Quandt phone hijacker, who has a solid history of details about Samsung phones. Quandt took to Twitter with a simple message: a “memory card reader” is not included in the Galaxy S21 spec sheet. AN subsequent tweet suggested that this would be true for all three models of the Galaxy S21, even the expensive Galaxy S21 Ultra.
The specification sheets for the S21 say: memory card reader: “No” Some markets may still have a charger in the box, while others may not.December 31, 2020
If the microSD slot is really a hopeless case, it looks like the next phone will be discarding one of the last bastions of classic smartphone design, up there with headphone jacks. Still, it’s hardly a surprise. There was no such slot in all of the manufacturer’s flagships in 2015, and some Galaxy Note models like the Galaxy Note 10 and Galaxy Note 20 they also lost their appeal.
There is potential good news from Quandt, who also notes that some markets may receive chargers in the Galaxy S21 case. This will not include the UK, however, according to other leakers. Nothing is official until Samsung reveals the phone.
And it could happen very soon. Rumors point to a Galaxy S21 January 14 launch event, with the phone being sent before the end of January. We are expecting three models – a standard Galaxy S21, Galaxy S21 Plus and Galaxy S21 Ultra. Samsung began to allow potential buyers reserve a place in the queue for pre-order the “next Galaxy” device.
