Samsung announces Galaxy XCover 5, the newest durable, advanced smartphone designed for tough environments – Samsung Global Newsroom

Meeting the needs of an increasingly mobile workforce, the new Galaxy XCover 5 is suitable for field and factory work, with complete protection against dust and water

Samsung Electronics today unveiled the new Galaxy XCover 5, a robust yet sophisticated device designed to handle demanding jobs while meeting the needs of an increasingly mobile workforce. Designed for the field and the factory, the Galaxy XCover 5 combines durability with comfort for a product that is stylish and easy to hold, yet robust enough to withstand tough work environments. It is designed to power today’s mobile businesses with enhanced touch sensitivity for use with gloves and comes with a replaceable, easy-to-charge battery for all-day productivity.

“At Samsung, we are rapidly investing in technology that offers efficiency and durability for companies with a focus on field and plant as they become increasingly mobile,” said Mark Notton, Senior Director of Mobile Product Portfolio at Samsung Electronics Europe. “Galaxy XCover 5 is a device that addresses the challenges that field employers often face, from ensuring the protection of sensitive materials to durable use in any environment. Whether on the shop floor or in extreme heat, rain or snow outside – it can keep up with the demands of work, while improving productivity and increasing collaboration to make daily work easier and more efficient. “

Built for tough environments

Galaxy XCover 5 is equipped with several features to handle demanding tasks and activities. Enhanced shock absorption allows the Galaxy XCover 5 to withstand drops of up to 1.5 meters1 and dust and water resistance with IP68 ratingtwo it means that it can be submerged in more than one meter of water for more than 30 minutes with complete protection against dust. And, as professionals in the field are required to wear gloves due to health and safety precautions, the Glove Touch feature increases touch sensitivity, allowing users to operate the device while wearing gloves for quick and convenient use.

In addition to being physically built for lasting durability, devices must protect sensitive information that is critical to business operations. The hardware of the Galaxy XCover 5 is protected by Samsung Knox, the company’s defense-level security platform that offers true end-to-end protection with security built into all layers of the device, from the chip to the applications. Samsung Knox protects confidential business information in real time and responds preventively to increasingly advanced malware and malicious threats.

Integration with the Samsung partner ecosystem

Galaxy XCover 5 is also enhanced with exclusive partner-enabled mobility solutions for use in a wide variety of business scenarios, including the ability to integrate the walkie talkie function with Microsoft Teams. The push-to-talk function allows users to keep in touch with anyone throughout the day at the touch of a button, facilitating communication between colleagues. You can also configure which applications can be launched with the XCover key – a personalized feature that provides one-touch access to the most frequently used applications, such as LED flashlights, emergency calls or maps.

Higher Performance

Equipped with the powerful Exynos 850 processor, 4 GB of RAM and up to 64 GB of internal storage, the Galaxy XCover 5 has the power to meet your company’s stringent demands. The replaceable, long-lasting 3,000 mAh battery also supports fast charging via USB and POGO pins so you spend less time connected and more time on the job at hand.

Professional camera

The Galaxy XCover 5 comes equipped with a single 16 MP (F1.8) rear camera that offers impeccable sharpness, making it easy to capture professional-grade images and videos. The Live Focus feature allows the subject of your photo to stand out and the 5MP front camera (F2.2) is ideal for video conferencing. In addition, the inclusion of Samsung Knox Capture also allows enterprise-grade scanning directly to your phone at a competitive price, without compromising device performance.

Convenient features

Galaxy XCover 5 is also packed with other convenient features that will assist users in their work and outdoor activities. The LED flashlight on the back of the phone next to the camera can be used as a flashlight, aiding your vision in darker environments. The Galaxy XCover 5 also comes equipped with an NFC chip that allows the phone to be used as a wallet or transport card, making it ideal for professionals who use public transport to get to work.
