Typically, Android OEMs take a while to get the latest version of the operating system on older devices, but Samsung has gotten better and better each year. For Android 11, the official update schedule started in early December and continues to expand. Here are all the devices that Samsung has upgraded to Android 11 so far.
This article will be updated continuously with new devices as soon as deployments begin.
The Android 11 update from Samsung brings the typical features you know and love about the Google update, including notification improvements, Bubbles for messages and many more. One that unfortunately was cut, however, was Google’s useful power menu shortcuts for smart home devices. Shame.
In addition to Android 11, the smartphone giant also includes One UI 3.0, which includes all the features Galaxy owners have known and loved for years, as well as some new additions and a new coat of paint in the design as a whole. It’s an elegant look that continues to refine Samsung’s work on Android that, frankly, has become especially good in recent years.
So, what devices are getting Android 11? Samsung has confirmed updates for many S, Note, Z and A series devices, but even more devices will be updated over time. Here’s what has been updated so far.
Samsung devices running Android 11 now
– Galaxy S20 Series
Launched on December 2, the Galaxy S20, S20 + and S20 Ultra received the Android 11 update on several US carriers, as well as unlocked models and global carrier units.
– Galaxy S20 FE
Although this Android 11 update has not yet arrived in the U.S., the Galaxy S20 FE started picking up its One UI 3.0 update in Russia on December 18 with the UK, India and Germany also seeing updates. The launch is expected to continue in other countries in the coming weeks.
– Galaxy Note 20 Series
Around December 14, the Galaxy Note 20 and Note 20 Ultra had updates for Android 11 on AT&T. Verizon, T-Mobile and unlocked variants have followed since then.
– NEW 12/30: Galaxy Note 10 Series
To close 2020, Samsung launched Android 11 and One UI 3.0 for the Galaxy Note 10 and Note 10+. So far, the update has been detected in Germany, but is expected to be released in more regions in the coming days and weeks.
– NEW 1/1: Galaxy Z Flip and Flip 5G
Samsung traditionally took a while to update its foldable to new versions of Android, but the Galaxy Z Flip 5G broke that rule. The update for this device started to be launched in Switzerland on December 21, but has not been confirmed for other regions.
Also just before the new year, Samsung started launching the Android 11 update for its regular Galaxy Z Flip with an update of approximately 2 GB.
– Galaxy S10 Lite
You would probably expect the Galaxy S10 series to be updated very quickly, but no one expected the slightly strange Galaxy S10 Lite to be the first updated. Still, that’s what we saw on December 22, when the device picked up Android 11 in India and Spain. The update has also been seen in the US, UK and Germany.
Update 12/30: This article has been updated with information about the Galaxy Note 10 release, as well as more regional details on other devices.
