Sammy Watkins for Baltimore Ravens at the free NFL agency

As hard as they try, the Baltimore Ravens have been struggling to find a revolutionary receiver to join MVP quarterback Lamar Jackson.

Well, they apparently hope that Sammy Watkins could be that man, as the veteran receiver has agreed to a one-year contract with the Ravens, according to ESPN reporter Adam Schefter.

Eighth-year player in 2021, Watkins managed 321 passes for 4,665 yards and 33 scores in 86 games (82 matches). Last season with the Kansas City Chiefs, Watkins picked up 37 passes for 421 yards and two goals in a charged attack that included Tyreek Hill and Travis Kelce, who earned a 64.4 PFF score.

Even with this limited production, Watkins should certainly sign a deal more profitable than $ 6 million for a season. He’s probably trying to have a recovery season that will help him get a much bigger deal in 2022, when the cap is raised.

With Watkins now off the board, the receiver market is quite empty now. Cincinnati Bengals showed interest in Kenny Golladay from the start, but outside of it, there was little rumor that the team was interested in other recipients. Antonio Brown is still out there, but I don’t think the Bengals have any interest.

Now that all the other big name receivers are off the board, the only way for the Bengals to add another impact receiver is through an exchange or early selection in the NFL’s 2021 Draft.

The LSU Tigers receiver, Ja’Marr Chase, may well be there when the Bengals are on the timer with the fifth choice …
