Here’s what’s going on in the television world on Sunday, January 17th. All times are from the east.
Best choice
Bat Woman (The CW, 20:00, second season premiere): Bat Woman returns tonight, but Kate Kane does not. After the departure of the leader of the original series Ruby Rose (supposedly due to long hours and the resulting friction and frustration), CW and Bat Woman team decided not to relaunch Kate’s role. Instead, there is a new cover crusader in the city. Meet Ryan Wilder (and Javicia Leslie, the actor taking the hood.)
Alani Vargas will pass by Gotham for a recap of the debut.

Tiger (HBO, 9 pm, final): “Woods’ 2017 DUI grainy black-and-white footage captures hauntings Tiger, and if you’re just accidentally familiar with his career, it’s understandable to assume, while watching, that it marks its tragic end. What unfolds throughout the documentary makes Woods’ return in 2018, when he won the PGA Tour after a five-year drought, seem unlikely, almost fantastic, but Tiger Woods still had a few miracles left in him. Tiger it effectively reminds us why we find the Tiger Woods legend so attractive, without ever losing sight of its complex humanity. ” Read the rest of Stephen Robinson’s review.
Regular coverage
American gods (Starz, 8pm)
Vikings (Amazonas): excessive coverage concludes
Wild card
Miss Scarlet and the Duke (Masterpiece mysteries at PBS, 8 pm, series premiere): Kate Phillips (Peaky Blinders) stars as Eliza Scarlet, who takes over her father’s private detective business after his death and solves crimes with her beautiful friend from Scotland Yard, whose name is The Duke. If this show is for you, it is very for you. (It’s too much for us.)
Inside Agatha Christie’s Mind (PBS, 10 pm): And while you’re in the mood for women with crimes, PBS also has an hour on the inner workings of one of the greats.
